01-4:26†††† And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.

 

01-6:1††††† And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

 

01-6:2††††† That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

 

01-6:4††††† There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

02-21:18††† And if men strive together, and one smite another with a stone, or with his fist, and he die not, but keepeth his bed:

03-LEVITICUS

03-7:25†††† For whosoever eateth the fat of the beast, of which men offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, even the soul that eateth it shall be cut off from his people.

 

03-18:27††† (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;)

 

03-27:9†††† And if it be a beast, whereof men bring an offering unto the LORD, all that any man giveth of such unto the LORD shall be holy.

04-9:7††††† And those men said unto him, We are defiled by the dead body of a man: wherefore are we kept back, that we may not offer an offering of the LORD in his appointed season among the children of Israel?

 

04-11:16††† And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.

 

04-11:24††† And Moses went out, and told the people the words of the LORD, and gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the tabernacle.

 

04-11:26††† But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp.

 

04-11:28††† And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.

 

04-12:3†††† (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)

 

04-13:2†††† Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.

 

04-13:3†††† And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel.

 

04-13:16††† These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua.

 

04-13:21††† So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.

 

04-13:31††† But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

04-14:22††† Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;

 

04-14:36††† And the men, which Moses sent to search the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up a slander upon the land,

 

04-14:37††† Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD.

 

04-14:38††† But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still.

 

04-16:1†††† Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men:

 

04-16:2†††† And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown:

 

04-16:14††† Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey, or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up.

 

04-16:26††† And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.

 

04-16:29††† If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not sent me.

 

04-16:30††† But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD.

 

04-16:32††† And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.

 

04-16:35††† And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.

 

04-18:15††† Every thing that openeth the matrix in all flesh, which they bring unto the LORD, whether it be of men or beasts, shall be thine: nevertheless the firstborn of man shalt thou surely redeem, and the firstling of unclean beasts shalt thou redeem.

 

04-22:9†††† And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee?

 

04-22:20††† And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.

05-DEUTERONOMY

05-1:13†††† Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.

 

05-1:15†††† So I took the chief of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among your tribes.

 

05-1:22†††† And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.

 

05-1:23†††† And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe:

 

05-1:35†††† Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers,

05-32:26††† I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men:

 

05-33:6†††† Let Reuben live, and not die; and let not his men be few.

 

06-JOSHUA

06-1:14†††† Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them;

 

06-2:1††††† And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlotís house, named Rahab, and lodged there.

 

06-2:2††††† And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country.

 

06-2:3††††† And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country.

 

06-2:4††††† And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were:

 

06-2:5††††† And it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.

 

06-2:7††††† And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.

 

06-2:9††††† And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.

 

06-2:14†††† And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.

 

06-2:17†††† And the men said unto her, We will be blameless of this thine oath which thou hast made us swear.

 

06-2:23†††† So the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all things that befell them:

 

06-3:12†††† Now therefore take you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, out of every tribe a man.

 

06-4:2††††† Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,

 

06-4:4††††† Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man:

 

06-5:4††††† And this is the cause why Joshua did circumcise: All the people that came out of Egypt, that were males, even all the men of war, died in the wilderness by the way, after they came out of Egypt.

 

06-5:6††††† For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, which came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: unto whom the LORD sware that he would not shew them the land, which the LORD sware unto their fathers that he would give us, a land that floweth with milk and honey.

 

06-6:2††††† And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.

 

06-6:3††††† And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.

 

06-6:9††††† And the armed men went before the priests that blew with the trumpets, and the rereward came after the ark, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

 

06-6:13†††† And seven priests bearing seven trumpets of ramsí horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the rereward came after the ark of the LORD, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

 

06-6:22†††† But Joshua had said unto the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlotís house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye sware unto her.

 

06-6:23†††† And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel.

 

06-7:2††††† And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east side of Bethel, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai.

 

06-7:3††††† And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.

 

06-7:4††††† So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai.

 

06-7:5††††† And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.

 

06-8:3††††† So Joshua arose, and all the people of war, to go up against Ai: and Joshua chose out thirty thousand mighty men of valour, and sent them away by night.

 

06-8:12†††† And he took about five thousand men, and set them to lie in ambush between Bethel and Ai, on the west side of the city.

 

06-8:14†††† And it came to pass, when the king of Ai saw it, that they hasted and rose up early, and the men of the city went out against Israel to battle, he and all his people, at a time appointed, before the plain; but he wist not that there were liers in ambush against him behind the city.

 

06-8:20†††† And when the men of Ai looked behind them, they saw, and, behold, the smoke of the city ascended up to heaven, and they had no power to flee this way or that way: and the people that fled to the wilderness turned back upon the pursuers.

 

06-8:21†††† And when Joshua and all Israel saw that the ambush had taken the city, and that the smoke of the city ascended, then they turned again, and slew the men of Ai.

 

06-8:25†††† And so it was, that all that fell that day, both of men and women, were twelve thousand, even all the men of Ai.

 

06-9:6††††† And they went to Joshua unto the camp at Gilgal, and said unto him, and to the men of Israel, We be come from a far country: now therefore make ye a league with us.

 

06-9:7††††† And the men of Israel said unto the Hivites, Peradventure ye dwell among us; and how shall we make a league with you?

 

06-9:14†††† And the men took of their victuals, and asked not counsel at the mouth of the LORD.

 

06-10:2†††† That they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty.

 

06-10:6†††† And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.

 

06-10:7†††† So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valour.

 

06-10:18††† And Joshua said, Roll great stones upon the mouth of the cave, and set men by it for to keep them:

 

06-10:24††† And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them.

 

06-18:4†††† Give out from among you three men for each tribe: and I will send them, and they shall rise, and go through the land, and describe it according to the inheritance of them; and they shall come again to me.

 

06-18:8†††† And the men arose, and went away: and Joshua charged them that went to describe the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and describe it, and come again to me, that I may here cast lots for you before the LORD in Shiloh.

 

06-18:9†††† And the men went and passed through the land, and described it by cities into seven parts in a book, and came again to Joshua to the host at Shiloh.

 

06-24:11††† And ye went over Jordan, and came unto Jericho: and the men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; and I delivered them into your hand.

07-1:4††††† And Judah went up; and the LORD delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they slew of them in Bezek ten thousand men.

 

07-3:29†††† And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valour; and there escaped not a man.

 

07-3:31†††† And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, which slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox goad: and he also delivered Israel.

 

07-4:6††††† And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedeshnaphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?

 

07-4:10†††† And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; and he went up with ten thousand men at his feet: and Deborah went up with him.

 

07-4:14†††† And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day in which the LORD hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the LORD gone out before thee? So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.

 

07-6:27†††† Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the LORD had said unto him: and so it was, because he feared his fatherís household, and the men of the city, that he could not do it by day, that he did it by night.

 

07-6:28†††† And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was cast down, and the grove was cut down that was by it, and the second bullock was offered upon the altar that was built.

 

07-6:30†††† Then the men of the city said unto Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die: because he hath cast down the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the grove that was by it.

 

07-7:6††††† And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.

 

07-7:7††††† And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.

 

07-7:8††††† So the people took victuals in their hand, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley.

 

07-7:11†††† And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host.

 

07-7:16†††† And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every manís hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers.

 

07-7:19†††† So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands.

 

07-7:23†††† And the men of Israel gathered themselves together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued after the Midianites.

 

07-7:24†††† And Gideon sent messengers throughout all mount Ephraim, saying, Come down against the Midianites, and take before them the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan. Then all the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and took the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan.

 

07-8:1††††† And the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why hast thou served us thus, that thou calledst us not, when thou wentest to fight with the Midianites? And they did chide with him sharply.

 

07-8:4††††† And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them.

 

07-8:5††††† And he said unto the men of Succoth, Give, I pray you, loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they be faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian.

 

07-8:8††††† And he went up thence to Penuel, and spake unto them likewise: and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered him.

 

07-8:9††††† And he spake also unto the men of Penuel, saying, When I come again in peace, I will break down this tower.

 

07-8:10†††† Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east: for there fell an hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword.

 

07-8:14†††† And caught a young man of the men of Succoth, and enquired of him: and he described unto him the princes of Succoth, and the elders thereof, even threescore and seventeen men.

 

07-8:15†††† And he came unto the men of Succoth, and said, Behold Zebah and Zalmunna with whom ye did upbraid me, saying, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thy men that are weary?

 

07-8:16†††† And he took the elders of the city, and thorns of the wilderness and briers, and with them he taught the men of Succoth.

 

07-8:17†††† And he beat down the tower of Penuel, and slew the men of the city.

 

07-8:18†††† Then said he unto Zebah and Zalmunna, What manner of men were they whom ye slew at Tabor? And they answered, As thou art, so were they; each one resembled the children of a king.

 

07-8:22†††† Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy sonís son also: for thou hast delivered us from the hand of Midian.

 

07-9:2††††† Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of Shechem, Whether is better for you, either that all the sons of Jerubbaal, which are threescore and ten persons, reign over you, or that one reign over you? remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.

 

07-9:3††††† And his motherís brethren spake of him in the ears of all the men of Shechem all these words: and their hearts inclined to follow Abimelech; for they said, He is our brother.

 

07-9:6††††† And all the men of Shechem gathered together, and all the house of Millo, and went, and made Abimelech king, by the plain of the pillar that was in Shechem.

 

07-9:7††††† And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood in the top of mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and said unto them, Hearken unto me, ye men of Shechem, that God may hearken unto you.

 

07-9:18†††† And ye are risen up against my fatherís house this day, and have slain his sons, threescore and ten persons, upon one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of his maidservant, king over the men of Shechem, because he is your brother;)

 

07-9:20†††† But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the men of Shechem, and the house of Millo; and let fire come out from the men of Shechem, and from the house of Millo, and devour Abimelech.

 

07-9:23†††† Then God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem; and the men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech:

 

07-9:24†††† That the cruelty done to the threescore and ten sons of Jerubbaal might come, and their blood be laid upon Abimelech their brother, which slew them; and upon the men of Shechem, which aided him in the killing of his brethren.

 

07-9:25†††† And the men of Shechem set liers in wait for him in the top of the mountains, and they robbed all that came along that way by them: and it was told Abimelech.

 

07-9:26†††† And Gaal the son of Ebed came with his brethren, and went over to Shechem: and the men of Shechem put their confidence in him.

 

07-9:28†††† And Gaal the son of Ebed said, Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? is not he the son of Jerubbaal? and Zebul his officer? serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem: for why should we serve him?

 

07-9:36†††† And when Gaal saw the people, he said to Zebul, Behold, there come people down from the top of the mountains. And Zebul said unto him, Thou seest the shadow of the mountains as if they were men.

 

07-9:39†††† And Gaal went out before the men of Shechem, and fought with Abimelech.

 

07-9:46†††† And when all the men of the tower of Shechem heard that, they entered into an hold of the house of the god Berith.

 

07-9:47†††† And it was told Abimelech, that all the men of the tower of Shechem were gathered together.

 

07-9:49†††† And all the people likewise cut down every man his bough, and followed Abimelech, and put them to the hold, and set the hold on fire upon them; so that all the men of the tower of Shechem died also, about a thousand men and women.

 

07-9:51†††† But there was a strong tower within the city, and thither fled all the men and women, and all they of the city, and shut it to them, and gat them up to the top of the tower.

 

07-9:54†††† Then he called hastily unto the young man his armourbearer, and said unto him, Draw thy sword, and slay me, that men say not of me, A woman slew him. And his young man thrust him through, and he died.

 

07-9:55†††† And when the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was dead, they departed every man unto his place.

 

07-9:57†††† And all the evil of the men of Shechem did God render upon their heads: and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.

 

07-11:3†††† Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain men to Jephthah, and went out with him.

 

07-12:1†††† And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thine house upon thee with fire.

 

07-12:4†††† Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.

 

07-12:5†††† And the Gileadites took the passages of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it was so that when those Ephraimites which were escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said unto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay;

 

07-14:10††† So his father went down unto the woman: and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do.

 

07-14:18††† And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? And he said unto them, If ye had not plowed with my heifer, ye had not found out my riddle.

 

07-14:19††† And the spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his fatherís house.

 

07-15:10††† And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.

 

07-15:11††† Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.

 

07-15:15††† And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.

 

07-15:16††† And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.

 

07-16:9†††† Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.

 

07-16:27††† Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport.

 

07-18:2†††† And the children of Dan sent of their family five men from their coasts, men of valour, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, to spy out the land, and to search it; and they said unto them, Go, search the land: who when they came to mount Ephraim, to the house of Micah, they lodged there.

 

07-18:7†††† Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrate in the land, that might put them to shame in any thing; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no business with any man.

 

07-18:11††† And there went from thence of the family of the Danites, out of Zorah and out of Eshtaol, six hundred men appointed with weapons of war.

 

07-18:14††† Then answered the five men that went to spy out the country of Laish, and said unto their brethren, Do ye know that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim, and a graven image, and a molten image? now therefore consider what ye have to do.

 

07-18:16††† And the six hundred men appointed with their weapons of war, which were of the children of Dan, stood by the entering of the gate.

 

07-18:17††† And the five men that went to spy out the land went up, and came in thither, and took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: and the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred men that were appointed with weapons of war.

 

07-18:22††† And when they were a good way from the house of Micah, the men that were in the houses near to Micahís house were gathered together, and overtook the children of Dan.

 

07-19:16††† And, behold, there came an old man from his work out of the field at even, which was also of mount Ephraim; and he sojourned in Gibeah: but the men of the place were Benjamites.

 

07-19:22††† Now as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons of Belial, beset the house round about, and beat at the door, and spake to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into thine house, that we may know him.

 

07-19:25††† But the men would not hearken to him: so the man took his concubine, and brought her forth unto them; and they knew her, and abused her all the night until the morning: and when the day began to spring, they let her go.

 

07-20:5†††† And the men of Gibeah rose against me, and beset the house round about upon me by night, and thought to have slain me: and my concubine have they forced, that she is dead.

 

07-20:10††† And we will take ten men of an hundred throughout all the tribes of Israel, and an hundred of a thousand, and a thousand out of ten thousand, to fetch victual for the people, that they may do, when they come to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly that they have wrought in Israel.

 

07-20:11††† So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, knit together as one man.

 

07-20:12††† And the tribes of Israel sent men through all the tribe of Benjamin, saying, What wickedness is this that is done among you?

 

07-20:13††† Now therefore deliver us the men, the children of Belial, which are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death, and put away evil from Israel. But the children of Benjamin would not hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of Israel:

 

07-20:15††† And the children of Benjamin were numbered at that time out of the cities twenty and six thousand men that drew sword, beside the inhabitants of Gibeah, which were numbered seven hundred chosen men.

 

07-20:16††† Among all this people there were seven hundred chosen men lefthanded; every one could sling stones at an hair breadth, and not miss.

 

07-20:17††† And the men of Israel, beside Benjamin, were numbered four hundred thousand men that drew sword: all these were men of war.

 

07-20:20††† And the men of Israel went out to battle against Benjamin; and the men of Israel put themselves in array to fight against them at Gibeah.

 

07-20:21††† And the children of Benjamin came forth out of Gibeah, and destroyed down to the ground of the Israelites that day twenty and two thousand men.

 

07-20:22††† And the people the men of Israel encouraged themselves, and set their battle again in array in the place where they put themselves in array the first day.

 

07-20:25††† And Benjamin went forth against them out of Gibeah the second day, and destroyed down to the ground of the children of Israel again eighteen thousand men; all these drew the sword.

 

07-20:31††† And the children of Benjamin went out against the people, and were drawn away from the city; and they began to smite of the people, and kill, as at other times, in the highways, of which one goeth up to the house of God, and the other to Gibeah in the field, about thirty men of Israel.

 

07-20:33††† And all the men of Israel rose up out of their place, and put themselves in array at Baaltamar: and the liers in wait of Israel came forth out of their places, even out of the meadows of Gibeah.

 

07-20:34††† And there came against Gibeah ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was sore: but they knew not that evil was near them.

 

07-20:35††† And the LORD smote Benjamin before Israel: and the children of Israel destroyed of the Benjamites that day twenty and five thousand and an hundred men: all these drew the sword.

 

07-20:36††† So the children of Benjamin saw that they were smitten: for the men of Israel gave place to the Benjamites, because they trusted unto the liers in wait which they had set beside Gibeah.

 

07-20:38††† Now there was an appointed sign between the men of Israel and the liers in wait, that they should make a great flame with smoke rise up out of the city.

 

07-20:39††† And when the men of Israel retired in the battle, Benjamin began to smite and kill of the men of Israel about thirty persons: for they said, Surely they are smitten down before us, as in the first battle.

 

07-20:41††† And when the men of Israel turned again, the men of Benjamin were amazed: for they saw that evil was come upon them.

 

07-20:42††† Therefore they turned their backs before the men of Israel unto the way of the wilderness; but the battle overtook them; and them which came out of the cities they destroyed in the midst of them.

 

07-20:44††† And there fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand men; all these were men of valour.

 

07-20:45††† And they turned and fled toward the wilderness unto the rock of Rimmon: and they gleaned of them in the highways five thousand men; and pursued hard after them unto Gidom, and slew two thousand men of them.

 

07-20:46††† So that all which fell that day of Benjamin were twenty and five thousand men that drew the sword; all these were men of valour.

 

07-20:47††† But six hundred men turned and fled to the wilderness unto the rock Rimmon, and abode in the rock Rimmon four months.

 

07-20:48††† And the men of Israel turned again upon the children of Benjamin, and smote them with the edge of the sword, as well the men of every city, as the beast, and all that came to hand: also they set on fire all the cities that they came to.

 

07-21:1†††† Now the men of Israel had sworn in Mizpeh, saying, There shall not any of us give his daughter unto Benjamin to wife.

 

07-21:10††† And the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the valiantest, and commanded them, saying, Go and smite the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead with the edge of the sword, with the women and the children.

 

08-RUTH

08-2:9††††† Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.

 

08-2:15†††† And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not:

 

08-2:21†††† And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said unto me also, Thou shalt keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my harvest.

 

08-3:10†††† And he said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.

 

08-4:2††††† And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.

 

09-1 SAMUEL

09-2:4††††† The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.

 

09-2:17†††† Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD: for men abhorred the offering of the LORD.

 

09-2:26†††† And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men.

 

09-4:2††††† And the Philistines put themselves in array against Israel: and when they joined battle, Israel was smitten before the Philistines: and they slew of the army in the field about four thousand men.

 

09-4:9††††† Be strong, and quit yourselves like men, O ye Philistines, that ye be not servants unto the Hebrews, as they have been to you: quit yourselves like men, and fight.

 

09-5:7††††† And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our god.

 

09-5:9††††† And it was so, that, after they had carried it about, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great destruction: and he smote the men of the city, both small and great, and they had emerods in their secret parts.

 

09-5:12†††† And the men that died not were smitten with the emerods: and the cry of the city went up to heaven.

 

09-6:10†††† And the men did so; and took two milch kine, and tied them to the cart, and shut up their calves at home:

 

09-6:15†††† And the Levites took down the ark of the LORD, and the coffer that was with it, wherein the jewels of gold were, and put them on the great stone: and the men of Bethshemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same day unto the LORD.

 

09-6:19†††† And he smote the men of Bethshemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the LORD had smitten many of the people with a great slaughter.

 

09-6:20†††† And the men of Bethshemesh said, Who is able to stand before this holy LORD God? and to whom shall he go up from us?

09-7:11†††† And the men of Israel went out of Mizpeh, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them, until they came under Bethcar.

 

09-8:16†††† And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.

 

09-8:22†††† And the LORD said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every man unto his city.

 

09-10:2†††† When thou art departed from me to day, then thou shalt find two men by Rachelís sepulchre in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say unto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seek are found: and, lo, thy father hath left the care of the asses, and sorroweth for you, saying, What shall I do for my son?

 

09-10:3†††† Then shalt thou go on forward from thence, and thou shalt come to the plain of Tabor, and there shall meet thee three men going up to God to Bethel, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine:

 

09-10:26††† And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched.

 

09-11:1†††† Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabeshgilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.

 

09-11:5†††† And, behold, Saul came after the herd out of the field; and Saul said, What aileth the people that they weep? And they told him the tidings of the men of Jabesh.

 

09-11:8†††† And when he numbered them in Bezek, the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.

 

09-11:9†††† And they said unto the messengers that came, Thus shall ye say unto the men of Jabeshgilead, To morrow, by that time the sun be hot, ye shall have help. And the messengers came and shewed it to the men of Jabesh; and they were glad.

 

09-11:10††† Therefore the men of Jabesh said, To morrow we will come out unto you, and ye shall do with us all that seemeth good unto you.

 

09-11:12††† And the people said unto Samuel, Who is he that said, Shall Saul reign over us? bring the men, that we may put them to death.

 

09-11:15††† And all the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before the LORD in Gilgal; and there they sacrificed sacrifices of peace offerings before the LORD; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.

 

09-13:2†††† Saul chose him three thousand men of Israel; whereof two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in mount Bethel, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent.

 

09-13:6†††† When the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait, (for the people were distressed,) then the people did hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.

 

09-13:15††† And Samuel arose, and gat him up from Gilgal unto Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people that were present with him, about six hundred men.

 

09-14:2†††† And Saul tarried in the uttermost part of Gibeah under a pomegranate tree which is in Migron: and the people that were with him were about six hundred men;

 

09-14:8†††† Then said Jonathan, Behold, we will pass over unto these men, and we will discover ourselves unto them.

 

09-14:12††† And the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armourbearer, and said, Come up to us, and we will shew you a thing. And Jonathan said unto his armourbearer, Come up after me: for the LORD hath delivered them into the hand of Israel.

 

09-14:14††† And that first slaughter, which Jonathan and his armourbearer made, was about twenty men, within as it were an half acre of land, which a yoke of oxen might plow.

 

09-14:22††† Likewise all the men of Israel which had hid themselves in mount Ephraim, when they heard that the Philistines fled, even they also followed hard after them in the battle.

 

09-14:24††† And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.

 

09-15:4†††† And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.

 

09-17:2†††† And Saul and the men of Israel were gathered together, and pitched by the valley of Elah, and set the battle in array against the Philistines.

 

09-17:12††† Now David was the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehemjudah, whose name was Jesse; and he had eight sons: and the man went among men for an old man in the days of Saul.

 

09-17:19††† Now Saul, and they, and all the men of Israel, were in the valley of Elah, fighting with the Philistines.

 

09-17:24††† And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid.

 

09-17:25††† And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his fatherís house free in Israel.

 

09-17:26††† And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?

 

09-17:28††† And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliabís anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.

 

09-17:52††† And the men of Israel and of Judah arose, and shouted, and pursued the Philistines, until thou come to the valley, and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even unto Gath, and unto Ekron.

 

09-18:5†††† And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saulís servants.

 

09-18:27††† Wherefore David arose and went, he and his men, and slew of the Philistines two hundred men; and David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full tale to the king, that he might be the kingís son in law. And Saul gave him Michal his daughter to wife.

 

09-21:4†††† And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women.

 

09-21:5†††† And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.

 

09-21:15††† Have I need of mad men, that ye have brought this fellow to play the mad man in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?

 

09-22:2†††† And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.

 

09-22:6†††† When Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him, (now Saul abode in Gibeah under a tree in Ramah, having his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him;)

 

09-22:19††† And Nob, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and asses, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.

 

09-23:3†††† And Davidís men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?

 

09-23:5†††† So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.

 

09-23:8†††† And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.

 

09-23:11††† Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the LORD said, He will come down.

 

09-23:12††† Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver thee up.

 

09-23:13††† Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth.

 

09-23:24††† And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.

 

09-23:25††† Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David: wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.

 

09-23:26††† And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.

 

09-24:2†††† Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats.

 

09-24:3†††† And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave.

 

09-24:4†††† And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saulís robe privily.

 

09-24:6†††† And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORDíS anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD.

 

09-24:22††† And David sware unto Saul. And Saul went home; but David and his men gat them up unto the hold.

 

09-25:5†††† And David sent out ten young men, and David said unto the young men, Get you up to Carmel, and go to Nabal, and greet him in my name:

 

09-25:8†††† Ask thy young men, and they will shew thee. Wherefore let the young men find favour in thine eyes: for we come in a good day: give, I pray thee, whatsoever cometh to thine hand unto thy servants, and to thy son David.

 

09-25:9†††† And when Davidís young men came, they spake to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased.

 

09-25:11††† Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it unto men, whom I know not whence they be?

 

09-25:12††† So Davidís young men turned their way, and went again, and came and told him all those sayings.

 

09-25:13††† And David said unto his men, Gird ye on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the stuff.

 

09-25:14††† But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabalís wife, saying, Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to salute our master; and he railed on them.

 

09-25:15††† But the men were very good unto us, and we were not hurt, neither missed we any thing, as long as we were conversant with them, when we were in the fields:

 

09-25:20††† And it was so, as she rode on the ass, that she came down by the covert on the hill, and, behold, David and his men came down against her; and she met them.

 

09-25:25††† Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I thine handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send.

 

09-25:27††† And now this blessing which thine handmaid hath brought unto my lord, let it even be given unto the young men that follow my lord.

 

09-26:2†††† Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.

 

09-26:19††† Now therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If the LORD have stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering: but if they be the children of men, cursed be they before the LORD; for they have driven me out this day from abiding in the inheritance of the LORD, saying, Go, serve other gods.

 

09-26:22††† And David answered and said, Behold the kingís spear! and let one of the young men come over and fetch it.

 

09-27:2†††† And David arose, and he passed over with the six hundred men that were with him unto Achish, the son of Maoch, king of Gath.

 

09-27:3†††† And David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabalís wife.

 

09-27:8†††† And David and his men went up, and invaded the Geshurites, and the Gezrites, and the Amalekites: for those nations were of old the inhabitants of the land, as thou goest to Shur, even unto the land of Egypt.

 

09-28:1†††† And it came to pass in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. And Achish said unto David, Know thou assuredly, that thou shalt go out with me to battle, thou and thy men.

 

09-28:8†††† And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.

 

09-29:2†††† And the lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds, and by thousands: but David and his men passed on in the rereward with Achish.

 

09-29:4†††† And the princes of the Philistines were wroth with him; and the princes of the Philistines said unto him, Make this fellow return, that he may go again to his place which thou hast appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he be an adversary to us: for wherewith should he reconcile himself unto his master? should it not be with the heads of these men?

 

09-29:11††† So David and his men rose up early to depart in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.

 

09-30:1†††† And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;

 

09-30:3†††† So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.

 

09-30:9†††† So David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those that were left behind stayed.

 

09-30:10††† But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor.

 

09-30:17††† And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled.

 

09-30:21††† And David came to the two hundred men, which were so faint that they could not follow David, whom they had made also to abide at the brook Besor: and they went forth to meet David, and to meet the people that were with him: and when David came near to the people, he saluted them.

 

09-30:22††† Then answered all the wicked men and men of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away, and depart.

 

09-30:31††† And to them which were in Hebron, and to all the places where David himself and his men were wont to haunt.

 

09-31:1†††† Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.

 

09-31:6†††† So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armourbearer, and all his men, that same day together.

 

09-31:7†††† And when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and they that were on the other side Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.

 

09-31:12††† All the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Bethshan, and came to Jabesh, and burnt them there.

 

10-2 SAMUEL

10-1:11†††† Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him:

 

10-1:15†††† And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died.

 

10-2:3††††† And his men that were with him did David bring up, every man with his household: and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.

 

10-2:4††††† And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, That the men of Jabeshgilead were they that buried Saul.

 

10-2:5††††† And David sent messengers unto the men of Jabeshgilead, and said unto them, Blessed be ye of the LORD, that ye have shewed this kindness unto your lord, even unto Saul, and have buried him.

 

10-2:14†††† And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise, and play before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.

 

10-2:17†††† And there was a very sore battle that day; and Abner was beaten, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.

 

10-2:21†††† And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay thee hold on one of the young men, and take thee his armour. But Asahel would not turn aside from following of him.

 

10-2:29†††† And Abner and his men walked all that night through the plain, and passed over Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and they came to Mahanaim.

 

10-2:30†††† And Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there lacked of Davidís servants nineteen men and Asahel.

 

10-2:31†††† But the servants of David had smitten of Benjamin, and of Abnerís men, so that three hundred and threescore men died.

 

10-2:32†††† And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Bethlehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at break of day.

 

10-3:20†††† So Abner came to David to Hebron, and twenty men with him. And David made Abner and the men that were with him a feast.

 

10-3:34†††† Thy hands were not bound, nor thy feet put into fetters: as a man falleth before wicked men, so fellest thou. And all the people wept again over him.

 

10-3:39†††† And I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah be too hard for me: the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.

 

10-4:2††††† And Saulís son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin.

 

10-4:11†††† How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?

 

10-4:12†††† And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.

 

10-5:6††††† And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither.

 

10-5:21†††† And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.

 

10-6:1††††† Again, David gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.

 

10-6:19†††† And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine. So all the people departed every one to his house.

 

10-7:9††††† And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.

 

10-7:14†††† I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:

 

10-8:5††††† And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.

 

10-8:13†††† And David gat him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men.

 

10-10:5†††† When they told it unto David, he sent to meet them, because the men were greatly ashamed: and the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.

 

10-10:6†††† And when the children of Ammon saw that they stank before David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Bethrehob, and the Syrians of Zoba, twenty thousand footmen, and of king Maacah a thousand men, and of Ishtob twelve thousand men.

 

10-10:7†††† And when David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the host of the mighty men.

 

10-10:9†††† When Joab saw that the front of the battle was against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians:

 

10-10:12††† Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the LORD do that which seemeth him good.

 

10-10:18††† And the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew the men of seven hundred chariots of the Syrians, and forty thousand horsemen, and smote Shobach the captain of their host, who died there.

 

10-11:16††† And it came to pass, when Joab observed the city, that he assigned Uriah unto a place where he knew that valiant men were.

 

10-11:17††† And the men of the city went out, and fought with Joab: and there fell some of the people of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died also.

 

10-11:23††† And the messenger said unto David, Surely the men prevailed against us, and came out unto us into the field, and we were upon them even unto the entering of the gate.

 

10-12:1†††† And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.

 

10-13:9†††† And she took a pan, and poured them out before him; but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, Have out all men from me. And they went out every man from him.

 

10-13:32††† And Jonadab, the son of Shimeah Davidís brother, answered and said, Let not my lord suppose that they have slain all the young men the kingís sons; for Amnon only is dead: for by the appointment of Absalom this hath been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.

 

10-15:1†††† And it came to pass after this, that Absalom prepared him chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him.

 

10-15:6†††† And on this manner did Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment: so Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.

 

10-15:11††† And with Absalom went two hundred men out of Jerusalem, that were called; and they went in their simplicity, and they knew not any thing.

 

10-15:13††† And there came a messenger to David, saying, The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom.

 

10-15:18††† And all his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men which came after him from Gath, passed on before the king.

 

10-15:22††† And David said to Ittai, Go and pass over. And Ittai the Gittite passed over, and all his men, and all the little ones that were with him.

 

10-16:2†††† And the king said unto Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The asses be for the kingís household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as be faint in the wilderness may drink.

 

10-16:6†††† And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.

 

10-16:13††† And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hillís side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.

 

10-16:15††† And Absalom, and all the people the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.

 

10-16:18††† And Hushai said unto Absalom, Nay; but whom the LORD, and this people, and all the men of Israel, choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide.

 

10-17:1†††† Moreover Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night:

 

10-17:8†††† For, said Hushai, thou knowest thy father and his men, that they be mighty men, and they be chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.

 

10-17:10††† And he also that is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall utterly melt: for all Israel knoweth that thy father is a mighty man, and they which be with him are valiant men.

 

10-17:12††† So shall we come upon him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light upon him as the dew falleth on the ground: and of him and of all the men that are with him there shall not be left so much as one.

 

10-17:14††† And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.

 

10-17:24††† Then David came to Mahanaim. And Absalom passed over Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.

 

10-18:7†††† Where the people of Israel were slain before the servants of David, and there was there a great slaughter that day of twenty thousand men.

 

10-18:15††† And ten young men that bare Joabís armour compassed about and smote Absalom, and slew him.

 

10-18:28††† And Ahimaaz called, and said unto the king, All is well. And he fell down to the earth upon his face before the king, and said, Blessed be the LORD thy God, which hath delivered up the men that lifted up their hand against my lord the king.

 

10-19:14††† And he bowed the heart of all the men of Judah, even as the heart of one man; so that they sent this word unto the king, Return thou, and all thy servants.

 

10-19:16††† And Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite, which was of Bahurim, hasted and came down with the men of Judah to meet king David.

 

10-19:17††† And there were a thousand men of Benjamin with him, and Ziba the servant of the house of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him; and they went over Jordan before the king.

 

10-19:28††† For all of my fatherís house were but dead men before my lord the king: yet didst thou set thy servant among them that did eat at thine own table. What right therefore have I yet to cry any more unto the king?

 

10-19:35††† I am this day fourscore years old: and can I discern between good and evil? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?

 

10-19:41††† And, behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said unto the king, Why have our brethren the men of Judah stolen thee away, and have brought the king, and his household, and all Davidís men with him, over Jordan?

 

10-19:42††† And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of kin to us: wherefore then be ye angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the kingís cost? or hath he given us any gift?

 

10-19:43††† And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more right in David than ye: why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? 10-23:20††† And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:

 

10-23:22††† These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men.

11-12:21††† And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, with the tribe of Benjamin, an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.

 

11-13:25††† And, behold, men passed by, and saw the carcase cast in the way, and the lion standing by the carcase: and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet dwelt.

 

11-18:13††† Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid an hundred men of the Lordís prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?

13-26:31††† Among the Hebronites was Jerijah the chief, even among the Hebronites, according to the generations of his fathers. In the fortieth year of the reign of David they were sought for, and there were found among them mighty men of valour at Jazer of Gilead.

 

13-26:32††† And his brethren, men of valour, were two thousand and seven hundred chief fathers, whom king David made rulers over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, for every matter pertaining to God, and affairs of the king.

 

13-28:1†††† And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the valiant men, unto Jerusalem.

14-2 CHRONICLES

14-2:2††††† And Solomon told out threescore and ten thousand men to bear burdens, and fourscore thousand to hew in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them.

 

14-2:7††††† Send me now therefore a man cunning to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that can skill to grave with the cunning men that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide.

 

14-2:14†††† The son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson; also to grave any manner of graving, and to find out every device which shall be put to him, with thy cunning men, and with the cunning men of my lord David thy father.

 

14-5:3††††† Wherefore all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto the king in the feast which was in the seventh month.

 

14-6:18†††† But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!

 

14-6:30†††† Then hear thou from heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and render unto every man according unto all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou only knowest the hearts of the children of men:)

 

14-8:9††††† But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no servants for his work; but they were men of war, and chief of his captains, and captains of his chariots and horsemen.

 

14-9:7††††† Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom.

 

14-10:6†††† And king Rehoboam took counsel with the old men that had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, What counsel give ye me to return answer to this people?

 

14-10:8†††† But he forsook the counsel which the old men gave him, and took counsel with the young men that were brought up with him, that stood before him.

 

14-10:10††† And the young men that were brought up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou answer the people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it somewhat lighter for us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my fatherís loins.

 

14-10:13††† And the king answered them roughly; and king Rehoboam forsook the counsel of the old men,

 

14-10:14††† And answered them after the advice of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add thereto: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

 

14-11:1†††† And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he gathered of the house of Judah and Benjamin an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against Israel, that he might bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.

 

14-13:3†††† And Abijah set the battle in array with an army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men: Jeroboam also set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, being mighty men of valour.

 

14-13:7†††† And there are gathered unto him vain men, the children of Belial, and have strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them.

 

14-13:15††† Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.

 

14-13:17††† And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.

 

14-14:8†††† And Asa had an army of men that bare targets and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valour.

 

14-17:13††† And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valour, were in Jerusalem.

 

14-17:14††† And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.

 

14-17:16††† And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.

 

14-17:17††† And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.

 

14-18:5†††† Therefore the king of Israel gathered together of prophets four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver it into the kingís hand.

 

14-22:1†††† And the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son king in his stead: for the band of men that came with the Arabians to the camp had slain all the eldest. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah reigned.

 

14-23:8†††† So the Levites and all Judah did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest had commanded, and took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that were to go out on the sabbath: for Jehoiada the priest dismissed not the courses.

 

14-24:24††† For the army of the Syrians came with a small company of men, and the LORD delivered a very great host into their hand, because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers. So they executed judgment against Joash.

 

14-25:5†††† Moreover Amaziah gathered Judah together, and made them captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, according to the houses of their fathers, throughout all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and above, and found them three hundred thousand choice men, able to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield.

 

14-25:6†††† He hired also an hundred thousand mighty men of valour out of Israel for an hundred talents of silver.

 

14-26:11††† Moreover Uzziah had an host of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the kingís captains.

 

14-26:12††† The whole number of the chief of the fathers of the mighty men of valour were two thousand and six hundred.

 

14-26:15††† And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.

 

14-26:17††† And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of the LORD, that were valiant men:

 

14-28:6†††† For Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah an hundred and twenty thousand in one day, which were all valiant men; because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers.

 

14-28:14††† So the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the princes and all the congregation.

 

14-28:15††† And the men which were expressed by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all that were naked among them, and arrayed them, and shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon asses, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brethren: then they returned to Samaria.

 

14-31:19††† Also of the sons of Aaron the priests, which were in the fields of the suburbs of their cities, in every several city, the men that were expressed by name, to give portions to all the males among the priests, and to all that were reckoned by genealogies among the Levites.

 

14-32:3†††† He took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which were without the city: and they did help him.

 

14-32:21††† And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. 15-8:16†††† Then sent I for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, men of understanding.

 

15-10:1†††† Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore.

16-8:2††††† And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.

 

16-8:3††††† And he read therein before the street that was before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the law.

Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai be of the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely fall before him.

 

17-9:6††††† And in Shushan the palace the Jews slew and destroyed five hundred men.

 

17-9:12†††† And the king said unto Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in Shushan the palace, and the ten sons of Haman; what have they done in the rest of the kingís provinces? now what is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: or what is thy request further? and it shall be done.

24-38:11††† So Ebedmelech took the men with him, and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took thence old cast clouts and old rotten rags, and let them down by cords into the dungeon to Jeremiah.

 

24-38:16††† So Zedekiah the king sware secretly unto Jeremiah, saying, As the LORD liveth, that made us this soul, I will not put thee to death, neither will I give thee into the hand of these men that seek thy life.

24-41:3†††† Ishmael also slew all the Jews that were with him, even with Gedaliah, at Mizpah, and the Chaldeans that were found there, and the men of war.

 

24-41:5†††† That there came certain from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, even fourscore men, having their beards shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to the house of the LORD.

 

24-41:7†††† And it was so, when they came into the midst of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah slew them, and cast them into the midst of the pit, he, and the men that were with him.

 

24-41:8†††† But ten men were found among them that said unto Ishmael, Slay us not: for we have treasures in the field, of wheat, and of barley, and of oil, and of honey. So he forbare, and slew them not among their brethren.

 

24-41:9†††† Now the pit wherein Ishmael had cast all the dead bodies of the men, whom he had slain because of Gedaliah, was it which Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of Israel: and Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with them that were slain.

24-42:17††† So shall it be with all the men that set their faces to go into Egypt to sojourn there; they shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence: and none of them shall remain or escape from the evil that I will bring upon them.

27-2:14†††† Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the kingís guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:

 

27-2:18†††† That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

 

27-2:24†††† Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will shew unto the king the interpretation.

 

27-2:27†††† Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king;

 

27-2:38†††† And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.

 

27-2:43†††† And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

27-3:12†††† There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

 

27-3:13†††† Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king.

 

27-3:20†††† And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.

 

27-3:21†††† Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

 

27-3:22†††† Therefore because the kingís commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

 

27-3:23†††† And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

 

27-3:24†††† Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.

 

27-3:25†††† He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

 

27-3:27†††† And the princes, governors, and captains, and the kingís counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.

 

27-4:6††††† Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known unto me the interpretation of the dream.

 

27-4:17†††† This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.

 

27-4:18†††† This dream I king Nebuchadnezzar have seen. Now thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation thereof, forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me the interpretation: but thou art able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.

 

27-4:25†††† That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

27-6:5††††† Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
